Based out of Maui, HI, designer Malia Leong has been designing with a strong passion and interest in fashion for as long as she could remember. Starting her own self titled company, STIZAR, at the young age of sixteen when most other teenagers haven't even begun to think about their future, her strong desire and will to make a name in the industry showed immensely. While barely even attending a full semester for fashion design or sewing, Malia proves that this natural talent is literally "sewn" into her DNA. Growing up in Maui,Hawaii and dreaming of Paris fashion and noting the differences in the fashion between these two worlds gave this designer a very different and unique outlook on fashion, which shows with every piece of clothing that is created. Malia aka "Stizar" has always been about breaking the trend, once stating: "I see fashion as a way for anybody, anywhere to be able to be 3 things....artistic. orginal. and idolized. I couldnt imagine my world with out fashion, it gives me the ability to express myself in an almost outer body exprienece. I create clothes that are FUN and Girlie! I feel fashion now has been so squished into a box and I think its time for young hot designers to bring there imagination to the fore front " By designing and developing truly innovative works of art and continuously staying true to her dream, Malia has only begun to build her own empire. Most recently featured in the 2008 Academy Awards Fashion show, various publications, and events, today, Malia Leong has finally begun to make her name in the fashion world.
